New Year’s / Bodhi Day Celebration 2026

New Year’s Day 2026

Join us for our 8th annual New Year’s Day-Bodhi Day Festivities

What: Vegetarian Potluck and Celebratory Service.

Where: Dong Hung Temple, Buddha Hall

When: Jan 1, 2026

Time: 1:00 – 4:00 PM

What to expect?
First, we will feast our fill on the fun of shared food, music, and games from 1:00-2:30.  So please bring family, friends, food, and fun with you.
About 2:30, we will move into the Buddha Hall and gather for a more focused aspect of our celebration.

Then, Thay Thanh will offer us a New Year’s Day Dharma Talk and meditation to start the new year.    With that energy, we will then have an opportunity to water the Bodhi Tree, the kind of tree under which the Buddha attained his Enlightenment. This watering symbolizes the watering of that which is good in us that we wish to nurture.  Next, looking within again, we will have the chance to write out and then burn that which is not so good in us and which we wish to get rid of or transform.

Weather permitting, the fire will be burning outside, and the day can end with a group gathering around the fire for some final fun and conversation before leaving.

Remember. This is a potluck of food and fun. So, bring yummy food to share, as well as family, friends, any fun music makers, or games you wish.  The more the merrier.
