Teaching in Virginia Beach, Ven. Thay Thanh advised the sangha to “Practice self-investment. Try to take time for yourself. If you have difficulty meditating at home, visit the temple to listen to the dharma, meditate with fellow sangha members, or just get away from your hectic environment to meditate on your own.
Ven. Thay Thanh often reminds the sangha that we must take care of ourselves so that we have a solid base from which we can help others. Meditation and reading the sutras are encouraged daily practices. It is human nature to sometimes feel we are in a rut doing the same thing day in and day out. The simple advice in this teaching reminds us to occasionally change things up to keep our practice fresh. Don’t forget about other forms of meditation, particularly walking meditation. If you cannot get to a temple to hear the dharma, there are numerous sources on-line to hear the teachings.
